Srinagar, May 27: Keeping their humane traditions alive, people here in Kashmir Valley pooled money to help a hapless non-local to dispatch the dead body of his son to India’s Bihar State.
Husamuddin Miyan (18) son of Sadia Miyan, a resident of Jaysingpur Champaran area of India’s Bihar state, presently residing at a rented house at Mustafa Abad Zainakot developed severe pain in stomach on Saturday morning. He was rushed to hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
Eyewitnesses said that locals after realizing that bereaved family is unable to take the dead body of the boy to their native village due to financial problem decided to pool money. The locals collected Rs one lakh for the poor family. “Out of Rs one lakh, we paid Rs 30,000 vehicle fare to the driver Mushtaq Ahmed while Rs 10,000 was handed over to the people accompanying him. Rest of the money (Rs 60,000) was deposited in the bank account of the mother of the slain boy,” Javaid Ahmed, a local told CNS.
“We did it on humanitarian grounds. The family had little resources to manage a vehicle that could have ferried the body to Bihar,” locals said.
“I have no words for the people of Kashmir, they are so kind and affectionate,” father of the slain boy said. (CNS)
