Srinagar, May 22: Senior Hurriyat (G) leader and Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Insaf Party, G A Gulzar Monday condemned the ‘vicious and vengeance campaign’ by Indian media against the movement for the Right to Self-Determination and its leadership in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the statement issued to KNS, Gulzar while referring to the history of Indian Freedom struggle said that India failed to dare politically the peoples uprising in Kashmir and is trying its best to disintegrate the rank and files of APHC in the same way as did the British imperialism in India to create fissures in Indian National Congress.
The British media maligned even the Father of Indian Nation, M K Gandhi by levelling serious allegations of secret funding amounting to millions of Pounds. “An infamous story was also carried in the British press that Gandhi fell on his knees and clasped the feet of Prince of Wales and wept for the peace of his people when the prince visited India (An Autobiography by Pt. Nehru, P 286 – 290). This malicious campaign to discredit and disgrace the leadership before its own people has been a tool in the hands of all aggressors, regardless of any color, caste, creed or geography,” he said.
He said that history of all the freedom movements bear testimony to this fact that these ‘nefarious designs of imperialism’ failed to bar the way of such movements backed by the mass support of the people.
Gulzar also reminded “the utter failure of the hypocrites present in all freedom movements acting up to the tunes of their mentors but irrespective of their ill designs, all these movements reached their logical conclusion. In the same way the people of Kashmir, who are engaged in a peaceful and political movement for Right to Self-Determination in accordance with the U N Resolutions, shall rise to the occasion and defeat all such hypocritical elements.”
He stressed for initiating serious efforts to resolve the long pending Kashmir issue for which India must read the writing on the wall in Kashmir and instead of resorting to military measures should show a positive political response to a meaningful dialogue process. (KNS)
