Srinagar, May 14: Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq paid glowing tributes to prominent Muslim Conference leader and one of the pioneers of Kashmir’s struggle for right to self determination, Abdul Salaam Dalal, who was a close associate of Mahajir-e-Milat Moulana Muhammad Yousuf Shah (RA), on his 65th death anniversary.
To commemorate the death anniversary of Dalal, Awami Action Action (AAC), organised a function at Khanyar area of old Srinagar under the chairmanship of Mirwaiz. The function was attended by all the functionaries of AAC, besides various social and religious activists. Locals of the area also participated in the function.
Highlighting the political and social contribution of Dalal, Hurriyat (M) chairman paid glowing tributes to deceased stating that he was a noble soul who always stood for the birth right of Kashmiris—right to self-determination and always played his part throughout his life. Mirwaiz said it was because of the people like Dalal and their efforts day in and out, today’s generation in Kashmir knows their ultimate goal.
Mirwaiz said the roadmap shown by leaders and martyrs will continue to guide the people of Kashmir especially youth and it was high time to remain steadfast and to follow basic principles to take the on-going movement to its logical conclusion. The APHC chairman said that it was the primary responsibility of the people of Kashmir including youth to protect the mission, the base of which has been laid down by our ancestors and martyrs over the past so many decades. Mirwaiz said unity and steadfastness are a must for taking the movement to its logical end.
On the occasion, many leaders that include Ghulam Nabi Zaki, Advocate Shahidul Islam, Muhammad Shafi Khan, Sufi Mushtaq Ahmad, Advocate Sheikh Yasir Rouf Dalal, Advocate Bashir Pandit and Khursheed Arif highlighted the political and social contribution of Dalal towards Kashmir’s struggle.
