SRINAGAR MAY 06: In order to speed up the process of developmental works in District Pulwama, District Development Commissioner Pulwama, Mr Muneer Ul Islam, today took a comprehensive review of various developmental projects being executed under PHE and Irrigation Sector during the financial year 2017-18.
While reviewing the PHE sector the meeting was informed that a total of 17 schemes will be taken against a total allocation of 542.62 lacs in which 128 lac will be met out under District plan and 414.55 lacs from NABARD. It was also stated that three important water supply schemes of Tral, Pampore and Pulwama town will be completed by the end of September 2017 which will provide a major sigh of relief to local populace, officials told PTK.
While giving details about the Irrigation Department, the meeting was informed that there are 19 on going schemes and the total allocation for this year will be 540.83 lacs, out of which44.70 lac will be from DISTRICT plan and 496.13 lacs from Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP). It was also given that out of 19 schemes, 08 schemes will be completed by the end of this year.
DDC directed the Executive Engineers to conduct periodical field visits to personally monitor the status of schemes under execution so that the projects are completed in a time bound manner. He stressed the need for ensuring quality of works on ground and judicious use of funds on each component. He also called for further strengthening the monitoring mechanism to induce greater accountability and transparency in the system.
Joint Director Planning, G. M. Ganaie and all the Executive Engineers from PHE and Irrigation department were present in the meeting. (PTK)
