Srinagar May 20: Curfew-like restrictions have been imposed in the areas falling under three police stations since early Saturday morning affecting the normal life in downtown area of Srinagar.
Restrictions have also affected attendance in educational institutions, banks and government offices in Srinagar city.
The District Administration Srinagar on Friday evening had decided to impose restriction in areas falling in jurisdictions of Nowhatta, MR Gunj and Safakadal police stations.
A senior government official in the administration said the restrictions are “precautionary measures” in view of the functions of Hurriyat.
The Hurriyat is observing week-long programmes on the death anniversaries of Shaheed-e-Milat Moulana Muhammad Farooq(RA), martyrs of Hawal and Shaheed-e-Hurriyat Khajwa Abdul Gani Lone.
