Srinagar, May 25: A track 2 delegation from India faced embarrassment after senior pro-freedom leader Aga Syed Hasan reportedly castigated them for double speak and even asked them to stop resorting to ‘lies and bias’ about Kashmir.
Reliable sources told CNS that a track 2 delegation under the banner of Centre for Peace and Progress led by OP Shaw visited the Central Kashmir’s Budgam based residential house of pro-freedom leader Aga Syed Hasan Almosvi Alsafvi. Senior Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar, O P Shah, Air Vice Marshal (retd) Kapil Kak and Vinod Sharma were part of it.
Sources said that Aga Hasan at first refused to entertain the delegation and then castigated it for resorting to ‘lies and bias’ about Kashmir situation. “In Kashmir you sympathize with victims but once you cross the tunnel your tone changes and you start acting like pseudo nationalist,” sources quoted Aga Hasan as having said.
When contacted Aga Hasan, who is associated with Syed Ali Geelani led Hurriyat Conference confirmed his meeting with the delegation. “I had not invited the delegation. I talked about ground reality and asked them to stop buying time and use their good offices to get the Kashmir issue resolved. I in fact made them clear the Shia community of Jammu and Kashmir is part and parcel of Kashmir Freedom Struggle. It is peoples movement. This is what I told him. (CNS)
