Scheme will benfit about 1 lakh people says Minister
Baramulla, 29 June: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and flood control Sham Lal Chaudry today visits the Watlab area of Sopore constituency wherein he laid the foundation stone of Lift Irrigation water Supply Scheme. Minister was accompanied by MLA Sopore Abdul Rasheed Dar, Chief Engineers of PHE, Irrigation and Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, ADC Sopore, AEE’s, EXN’s besides various other officers of line departments,
Pertinent to mention that the scheme will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 719.93 lakh including Rs 489.93 lakh and Rs 230.00 lakh in civil and mechanical parts respectively. It was informed that the scheme, having its source in Wular lake will cater to the demands of the people and will supply drinking water to 48562 souls in Sopore town and 53265 souls in rural area. It was also informed that the scheme have been taken up upon the persistent demand of the people and will be be completed in two working seasons.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that ensuring potable drinking water to every household is on the top most priority of the coalition Govt. He also said that present govt is committed to provide the basic amenities to the people.
Later the Minister convened a meeting here to review the pace and position of various developmental projects of Sopore constituency during which he stressed upon the concerned authorities to work in synergy and enthusiasm so that all the undertaken projects are completed within stipulated time. Meanwhile the minister sought coordination and cooperation among the departments so that target achieving mechanism can be initiated.
Meanwhile the Minister was appraised with the various issues confronting the people wherein he ensured of every possible initiative to be taken for their early redressel.
