Srinagar, Jun 17: Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who was once again placed under house detention today morning at his residence by the authorities, thereby barring him from carrying out his social and religious duties, while strongly condemning the imposition of curfew in most parts of Srinagar, vandalism by Govt. forces and killings of innocent Kashmiris has termed it as a worst form of State terrorism.
Mirwaiz said killing unarmed Kashmiris has become a regular feature of the State’s oppressive policy in Kashmir. He said even in the holy month of Ramadan, forces continued with their policy of killing civilians unabatedly besides unleashing a reign of terror across the Valley.
He said on the one hand worst form of oppression is on display and on the other entire pro-freedom leadership has been either placed under house arrest or lodged in various jails across the Valley.
Mirwaiz paid glowing tributes to the armed youth martyred in a gunfight at Arwani, Bijbehara, Shaheed Junaid Matoo, Shaheed Nisar Wani and Shaheed Adil Mir besides the two civilians Shaheed Ahsan Ahmed and Shaheed Muhammad Ashraf stating that turning blind eye to the basic reality of Kashmir issue and delaying its resolution is the main reason of bloodshed in Kashmir. He said it was because of the stubborn and rigid approach of the New Delhi towards Kashmir and its people that killing of innocent civilian has become a daily feature.
Mirwaiz said harassment of pro-freedom leaders at the hands of Delhi’s investigating agency is a new ploy adopted by the Government of India. He said in to malign the people’s movement and the resistance leadership. He said the extension of GST to J&K is being done to weaken and affect the disputed nature of Kashmir and to damage Kashmiris economically.
Mirwaiz said the leadership at New Delhi must understand the ground reality and realize that all their efforts to muzzle the genuine dissent in Kashmir have not brought any dividends to them. The people of Kashmir continue to remain steadfast and committed towards the movement and a just resolution of vexed Kashmir issue. He said Delhi must rein in on its forces in Kashmir, who have gone trigger happy, so that there is a stop in the innocent civilian killings. (KNS)
