Srinagar, June 24: The Northern Army Commander Lt Gen D Anbu called upon the Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra during his day-long visit to the valley and discussed the prevailing situation.
The Governor was apprised of the key security initiatives that have been put into place by the Army to ensure security during the Amarnath Yatra and in Kashmir Region, said a statement, issued by the army.
The army commander along with the Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen JS Sandhu also visited the Army formations and units deployed in South Kashmir for the Amarnath Yatra and took stock of the security and administrative arrangements for the Yatra which is scheduled to commerce from 29 Jun 17.
He stressed upon the need for close coordination with Civil Administration to ensure a smooth and efficient conduct of the yatra, said the statement.
“The Army Commander appreciated the synergy being maintained amongst all security agencies for conduct of the Amarnath Yatra.” CNS
