Srinagar, Jun 19: Police on Monday foiled the secretariat Gherao program of Clerical Staff Association (CSA) and detained scores of its members after they tried to march towards Civil Secretariat from Srinagar’s Press Enclave.
The protesters assembled at Srinagar’s Press Enclave and chanted slogans like ‘we want justice’. They were demanding removal of pay anomaly.
As soon as the protesters tried to march towards the civil secretariat, the police swung into and action detained scores of its members.
Talking to KNS, the protesters said that the government has failed to remove pay anomaly, which has resulted in the immense hardships to them.
“Even we are not being allowed to march peacefully for our demands. Government wants us to forget the promises they made with the employees earlier. They should fulfil the promises done with us,” the protesters said.
They said that the government must not ignore their plights. “We have been left to face hardships. The government must take steps to put pur sufferings to an end,” they said.
Later, the protesters tried to march towards the civil secretariat.
However, police swung into action and detained sores of its members. (KNS)
