Srinagar, Jun 02: Chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah Friday paid glowing tributes to two slain militants, Basharat Ahmad Sheikh (Bomai) and Aijaz Ahmad Mir (Brath Kalan) who were killed in a gunfight on Thursday in Sopore.
The DFP chairman said “these brave-hearts are sacrificing their precious lives for the cause that is a faith for us.”
According to a statement issued to KNS, on the directions of Shah, a delegation of Freedom Party comprising Muhammad Ibrahim, Muhammad Sabit, Farooq Ahmad and Abdul Waheed visited Bomai and Brath Kalan, Sopore and expressed condolence and solidarity with the bereaved families.
Shah talked to the families by phone and assured them that nobody will be allowed to play with the cause for which their sons laid down lives. He said despite highly educated these brave-hearts are sacrificing their lives for a greater cause.
“It is due to the invaluable sacrifices of these mujahideen that Kashmir issue is echoing at the world forums,” he said.
Meanwhile, a DFP spokesperson slammed authorities for placing party chairman Shah under continuous house arrest. He said since Shah was released in 2011, he has served detention for the period of 3 years and 8 months and is continuously under house arrest and is not even allowed to offer Friday prayers.
“Shah Sahib has served 31 years of his life in jails and the puppet administration by placing him under continuous detention is resorting to political vengeance against him. His residence has been converted into a jail. The administration’s claims of democracy and freedom of expression have fallen flat. Are these rights reserved for only those in power?” he said.
The spokesperson also expressed serious concern over the plight of political prisoners languishing in jails in and outside state and said the administration is treating them in a very inhuman way. He expressed strong resentment over the continuous arrest of Dukhtaran-e-Millat chief Syeda Aasiya Andrabi, Masarat Alam Bhat and Sofi Fehmeeda in Amphala Jail, Jammu under simmering heat.
“This fascist government is not sparing even the octogenarian prisoners and the court orders are openly violated in this regard,” the spokesperson said. (KNS)
