Sopore municipality demolishes illegal construction

Sopore, Jun 13: In a move lauded by the locals in Sopore, Municipal Committee in the town has demolished an “illegal” construction raised on a disputed land.

Officials in the municipality told KNS that they received a complaint from widow of late Abdul Khaliq Dar of Batpora, Sopore that their land has been sold illegally by her son to Abdul Rashid Mir of Watergam, Rafiabad, who had constructed a shopping complex on it.
“We complained to the Municipality of the town against the illegal construction being raised on the land which belongs to our late father. The municipality after checking the veracity of the complaint demolished the illegal construction,” said Aliya Jan, daughter of late Dar.
