Srinagar, June 16: Authorities on Friday suspended the train services between Banihal in south Kashmir and Srinagar in the wake of
an encounter between government forces and militants in Arwani village of Anantnag district.
A gunfight broke out between militants and forces in Arwani after the latter launched a cordon-and-search-operation in the village following inputs about the presence of militants.
An official said that the train services between Banihal and Srinagar were suspended for “security reasons”. However, services on the Budgam-Baramulla stretch were running as per schedule.
