Kishtwar, Aug 18:   Continuing its  drive against timber smugglers in Chenab Circle, Forest division kishtwar busted a major timber nexus by intercepting a vehicle which was carrying the furnished material of timber for building work.

        The team received a specific tip off that one vehicle bearing registration no JKO6 7401 was carrying illegal timber and heading towards the town.The raiding team laid a trap but the driver of the vehicle tried to flee on seeing the team but they managed to nab it which led to the seizure of the vehicle along with the illicit timber.

          When DFO Forest Divsion Kishtwar Manzoor Ahmad Gagroo was contacted by a Senior Correspondent of Kishtwar regarding the seizure of illegal timber , DFO Kishtwar confirmed the seizure of illicit timber along with the vehicle. Adding that “we have prepared special squads for prompt action so that this menace of illicit trade is curbed to save our green gold.

        Mr Gagroo reiterated that “We have strict orders from Hon’ble Minister of forests and all the higher ups of the department to curb this timber smuggling and book the accused under stringent laws”.

       It is petinent to mention here that timber smuggling is on peak in chenab valley but the timely and swift action of department has broke the nexus of this trade.     

     ”There is a declining trend in its statistics due to proactive approach of the department and steps taken by T B singh who himself leads any operation to end this illegal trade” said Haji ghulam Rasool, A social worker specifically working for forest and ecological conservation.
        The team was lead by Range Officer Kishtwar Mr Ashish Gupta and Block Officer Kishtwar Mr Naushad Ali Malik under the guidance of DFO Manzoor Ahmad Gagroo under the command and over all supervision of conservator forest chenab circle Mr T B Singh.
