Bandipora, Aug 15: The 71th Independence day was celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety in North Kashmir’s Bandipora District here today.
The main function was held at Sher-i -Kashmir sports stadium Bandipora, where Minister for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Abdul Gani Kohli unfurled the Flag and inspected the parade and took salute on the March Past presented by the contingents of JKP, IRP, CRPF, Fire & Emergency Services, Home guard, NCC cadets and school children.
After March Past, Students from different educational institutions presented scintillating cultural items based on patriotism, cultural traditions and social evils.
Speaking on the occasion,the Minister extended Independance Day greetings to the people and highlighted the historical background of freedom movement of India and paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters and martyres.
Expressing his concern over the killing of innocent people,the Minister said That the over all situation is going better day by day as police and security forces are doing great job in maintaining law and order situation.
Meanwhile District Development Commissionear Bandipora Sajad Hussain, SSP bandipora Sheikh Zulfikar Azad, ADC Bandipora, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Chief Education Officer Bandipora, District information officer, DSP headquarter, and district heads of various departments besides public representatives were also present on the Occasion.
