Srinagar, Aug 17: Anjuman-e-Nusrat-ul-Islam paid glorious tributes to Kashmir’s noted Islamic scholar, religious and spiritual leader and prominent personality, Mirwaiz Moulana Atiqullah Shah, the former president of the Anjuman, on his 54th death anniversary.
In this regard, a function was organised in the auditorium of Anjuman at Rajouri Kadal in downtown in which general secretary of the Anjuman Muhammad Ibrahim Shah and Islmia and Oriental College principal Mufti Ghulam Rasool Samoon, Principal Islamia Higher Secondary School Dr GM Khan participated and addressed the large of number of students, teachers, and other staff members.
Addressing the gathering, the speakers while paying glowing tributes to Mirwaiz Atiqullah Shah said that he was a legendary figure and had a great vision towards the educational system of Kashmir and his vision will remain as a torchbearer for generations to come.
They said the contributions made by the Moulana Atiqullah Shah in education, religion, and society will go in the history of Kashmir in golden words. The speakers said while recalling the financial crunch faced by the educational institutions running under Anjuman from 1955 to 1962, said that despite tough times, Moulana Shah worked hard to ensure that all the institutions work under proper schedule and it was with the help of generous financial support of people of Kashmir towards these institutions, the flock was kept together and moving.
The speakers said that it was Moulana Shah, who laid the foundation stones for Islamia College of Science and Commerce that before shifting to Hawal used to operate from the premises of Anjuman.
The speakers further said that despite turbulent times in Kashmir, Moulana Shah with his spiritual capacity and intelligence continued to work social and political upliftment of Kashmir.
Earlier, a Quran Khawani was held in favour of Moulana Shah at Islamia Oriental College where in the participants prayed for highest standards in heaven for the deceased.
