ARMY CELEBRATES 71st INDEPENDENCE DAY IN URI

Uri, 15 Aug 17:    To mark the 71st Independence Day, Army and the Awam* of far flung areas of Uri along the line of control celebrated the Independence Day with great fervor & pomp. The *theme of this year’s celebration is “Unity in Diversity”
     The Independence Day also marked the culmination of a series of events, including activities like *Debates, Essay writing & Drawing competitions* conducted in various schools of *Gohalan, Urusa, Kamalkot* to imbibe the patriotic fervor in school children.
    A *volleyball tournament* was also organized for the villages of *Chullhan, Dhanni Sayeida,Jambur Patton.* The youth of the area participated in the volleyball league in large numbers making it a huge success.  
     Earlier, Eighth Edition of Uri Premier League  signified a historic milestone in Uri Tehsil. Fifty local cricket teams played their hearts out over a month long league culminating in grand finale on 09 Aug 17.
     To mark the 71st Independence Day,  flag hoisting  was  done at various places , which saw enthusiastic participation of Army and awam  together. *National Flags were hoisted at Urusa, Gohalan,Gingle and Nawa.*
    Sweets were distributed amongst the local school children and villagers on the occasion.

    In Uri, the flag was  hoisted at Army Goodwill School. School children also presented a cultural show showcasing the cultural diversity of the country.
