ARMY ORGANIZES CRICKET CHAMPIONSHIP AT NAUGAM

Naugam, Aug 25:     In an effort towards positive engagement of the youth, the Army Garrison at Naugam organised a cricket tournament for the youth of Mawar Valley. In this mega tournament 34 teams of Mawar Valley battled it out for the prestigious title. The tournament had started from 10 Aug 17 and the final match was played between MCC Bhatpura and Lawoosa “A” on 24 Aug 17. In an exciting final, MCC Bhatpura defeated Lawoosa A by 6 wickets and grabbed the prestigious title.            

     A musical concert was also org by the army immediately after the final match which included memorable performances by famous Kashmiri Singer and Radio Artist Gulzar Ahmad Ganie. Anticipating a large gathering, the army also organized a medical camp at the same venue. Locals of all age groups turned up in large numbers to avail the medical facilities. A team of Army and Civil Doctors provided medical treatment to patients and distributed medicines to the locals.       

    Being a truely unique and fascinating experience, the cricket tournament, medical camp and the musical concert were well received by the local populace. The final match and the musical concert were witnessed by a large gathering. The youth of the Mawar valley were particularly enthusiastic about the event and had turned up in large numbers to cheer their teams. The army welcomed the youth and encouraged them to continue partcipating in similar gala sports events with the same zeal in future as well. 

The winners and runners up were given individual as well as team prizes by the Commander of Naugam Garrison. All the other participating teams were also given consolation prizes to motivate them to continue partcipating in such events in future. The army also felicitated the renowned artist Mr Gulzar Ahmad Ganai for his contribution in making the event an unforgettable one.
