Attempts to abrogate Article 35-A aimed at sabotaging referendum process in JK: DFP

‘People won’t tolerate baseless propaganda against resistance leadership’

Srinagar, Aug 08: Supporting the shutdown call for Saturday issued by the resistance leadership, the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) on Tuesday said every conspiracy to change the demography and Muslim majority status of Jammu Kashmir will be resisted tooth and nail.
In a statement issued to KNS, a DFP spokesperson said, “Though our struggle is for the right to self-determination, but New Delhi and its collaborators in JK are trying to tinker with the Article 35A and harm the Muslim majority status of the State.”
He urged the people to remain vigilant over such conspiracies saying if any such move is undertaken, the people from other states will purchase land in JK and “we’ll be rendered homeless”.
Such well-thought-out attempts, the spokesperson said, are aimed at sabotaging the referendum process in Jammu Kashmir.
Reacting against the arrest of resistance leaders including Shabir Ahmad Shah by NIA and ED, the spokesperson termed it part of a deep conspiracy to defame the resistance movement and leadership. “Resistance leadership is being implicated in fabricated cases of amassing wealth and properties. Even the media trial of leaders is part of a well-thought-out plan by Indian authorities,” he said.
“The people of Jammu Kashmir have nourished the freedom movement with their blood and they won’t tolerate such baseless propaganda against the leadership,” he said.
The spokesperson also condemned the summoning of wife of Shabir Ahmad Shah to New Delhi and questioning her about the properties and other issues. “Harassing even doctors and conscious people of the society is unjustified. This is done to exert psychological pressure on the family members of leaders,” he said.
“The people of the State should remain cautious of the conspiracies by India and its collaborators and be ready to resist such plots,” he said. (KNS)
