Batagund residents demand halt to JCB machines during night

‘We will be forced to protest’

Srinagar, Aug 12: Working of JCB machines in mid night hours is giving sleepless nights to a big chunk of population in Kupwara residents as the machines extract “illegally” from a water stream in the area.
Residents living in the vicinity of Batagund stream in Tehsil Handwara of the district said that they will be forced to protests if the administration does not stop the working of JCB machines during the night.
Barkat Ahmad, a resident of Batagund, told KNS that the JCB machines are pressed into service for extraction of illegal sand and gravel during night which gives sleepless nights to the residents of the area.
“We will be forced to come out on the streets and block the traffic on roads if working of JCBs during mid night hours is not stopped immediately,” he said. (KNS)
