‘Minister for Education and Secretary Education assured grievances redressal’
Srinagar, Aug 28: President Employees Joint Action Committee and Chairman J&K Teachers forum Abdul Qayoom Wani met and apprised the Minister for Education, Secretary School Education, Director School Education and State project Director (SPD) about the issue of D.ed for Graduate and Post Graduate teachers and the bar of 50% marks for under graduate untrained teachers of the department.
The EJAC president Abdul Qayoom Wani made it amply clear to the minister and other officers of the department that Right to Education (RTE) Act has not been implemented in the J&K State, where as the State has its own act.
There is no classification of teachers like primary teachers, Trained Graduate teachers (TGT), Post Graduate Trained Teachers (PGT) in the J&K State and the instructions of HRD Ministry in this context have caused confusion among the teachers of the State.
Wani Said that we are not against the training of teachers for upgrading and updating of their knowledge but the way HRD ministry has issued directions is full of confusion and would create mess in the Education System of the State as the State has its own Education Act and RTE Act is not implemented.
Wani urged upon the honorable Minister for Education, Secretary School Education, Director School Education and State project Director to frame a committee of experts and Educationists to look into the matter before finalizing the policy in framework to avoid the confusion created by the instruction of HRD ministry, besides National Institute of Opening Schooling (NIOS) has no role in it in the State.
Minister for Education and Secretary School Education made it clear to chairman JKTF Abdul Qayoom Wani that there will be no D.ed for Graduate, Post Graduate and above qualification holders and bar of 50% marks for under Graduate teachers shall be waived off.
Wani thanked the Education Minister, Secretary School Education, Director School Education and State Project Director (SPD) for their positive and teacher friendly role. (KNS)
