Fighting for safety of Article 35A is a collective fight of Kashmiris: Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir

Islamabad/Anantnag,  August 25:  Chairman Ummat e Islami and Mirwaiz of South Kashmir, Qazi Yasir Ahmed, today while addressing people at Jamia Masjid of Islamabad first time since he was released after almost two month long detention said that safeguarding Article 35A is a collective fight of all Kashmiris.

Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir paid glowing tributes to the Kupwara youth who was killed in a staged encounter by Indian Army on Tuesday in Handwara. He said, “Staged Encounters have been a part and parcel of Indian Occupation in Kashmir. Custodial Killings are something we have been witnessing since decades.”

Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir said that there have been dozens of ordered inquiries into such incidents, but all Kashmiris know that inquiries yield nothing, but are only a process to buy time till the public anger is contained.

He condmened the harrasement of Hurriyat Leader, Shabir Ahmed Shah in the name of inquiry and said that Kashmiri Leaders are being threatened in one name or the other, but the Indian state is in a dilemma that by caging a few people, they can silence the cause.

Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir condmened victimization of Kashmir leaders in the name of “Carrying out Investigations.” He said that Kashmiri people have always supported inquiries and investigations. “Hundreds of youth including leaders present themselves before various courts of Law in Anti-India cases.”

Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir while commenting on Article 35A said that the fight is a collective fight of all Kashmiri masses. “We have given sacrifices for preserving our special status and we will not hesitate to do so in the future,” he said.

Mirwaiz said the duty is upon Pro Establishment groups, especially the ruling PDP to not let 35a be tinkered with.

Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir while paying rich tributes to Yawar Nisar of Islamabad said, “Young boys like Yawar are left with no option when they are harrased constantly by the state.”

He said the duty is upon the politicians of Jammu Kashmir to not let boys like Yawar be harassed and only then we can have a condusive atmosphere to sit on a Dialogue table. “Till the harrasment of young people is not stopped, dialogue would be meaningless.”

Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir also said people like Sarjan Barkati and Sajad Hashmi who only raised the public demands have been kept in confinement for almost a year now. The time is ripe for the state to release them and all other detainees. He demanded the immediate release of Sarjan Barkati, Sajad Hashmi and other pro Freedom detainees.
