Forces launch cordon in Shopian village

Srinagar, Aug 12: Government forces on Saturday cordoned off Shopian village in South Kashmir.
Official sources told news agency GNS that a Joint team of army’s 3 RR, 55 RR and SOG launched cordon-and-search operation at Astan Mohalla area of Awanura village in Zainpora Shopian following inputs about the presence of some militants.
The joint team while intensifying the combing operation fired several rounds towards the suspected spot.
However, when reports last came in there was no retaliation from the other side amid tight cordon.
