Pays rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, Jawahar Lal Nehru

Srinagar, Aug 14: Congress today greeted the Nation on the event of 70th Independence day being celebrated on August 15th 2017 with great enthusiasm.
Congress also paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru and freedom fighters, who fought the battle of Independence for prestige and ensured freedom from the British Colonial Rule.
Extending greetings to the Nation, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President G.A. Mir in his independence message described the 15th august as an event, which has changed the history of the Nation and India achieved freedom from the barbarism and brutality, he said.
Commenting on the 70th year of Independence Day, G.A. Mir said that it is a great movement for the Nation to celebrate the event, the Nation will continue to remain indebted to the freedom fighters, who even sacrificed their lives for the prestige and honour of the people.
Mir also reminded the people of the sacrifices given by Mahatma Gandhi, Pt Jawahar Lal Nerhu, Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad, Lal Bahudu Shastri and hundreds of the freedom fighter, who fought the British without indulging in any kind of violence, rather they were brutalized and jailed, but they never relied on any kind of violence.
Mir wished a happy Independence day to people of all shades and hoped that this event will be the harbinger of complete peace in the Country and State.
Taking the opportunity of the event, G.A. Mir lashed out at the communal forces hell bent upon to harm the secular fabric of the Country with the support of BJP to serve their vested interests, it is ironical that BJP despite being in power is indulging in dividing people in the entire country on religious lines for the sake of electoral gains, but the day is not far when this party (BJP) will get a befitting reply from people of the Country.
