Srinagar, August 28: Inspector General of CRPF (operations) Zulfikar Hassan on Monday visited Fidayeen attack spot at District Police Lines (DPL) Pulwama where eight forces men were killed by three Jaish—e-Muhammad militants during 18 hour long standoff.
The IG CRPF after the visit said that the paramilitary force “displayed extreme bravery” along with police during the attack. He said four CRPF men were also killed in the attack and some others were injured. The top CRPF officer said that condition of three injured CRPF men is critical and “if need arises they will be shifted to Delhi after they stabilize”.
Referring to attacks, the IG CRPF said that the “militants are desperate” to inflict damage on government forces. “Some top militants were killed in south Kashmir in which there was important role of CRPF. We understand that militants in their desperation are trying to attack security forces and inflict damage. We are ready to tackle this situation,” he said.
Meanwhile, youths stoned the cavalcade of IG Zulfikar Hassan at Tengpuna in Pulwama district. Reports said that the youths resorted to heavy stone pelting on IG CRPF’s cavalcade after which forces resorted to teargas shelling. No one was injured in the shelling and later situation normalized in the area. (GNS)
