Demands immediate rollback of the law

Srinagar, Aug 08: The Jammu and Kashmir Coordination Committee (JKCC), an amalgam of traders and civil society Tuesday staged protest against the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the state, demanding immediate rollback of the law.
The JKCC members assembled at Ganta Ghar (Clock Tower) here and staged silent protest against the implementation of GST in JK.

They said that the authorities must rollback the law as it is diluting the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. “All the promises done by the government and their claims felt ill on the ground as not even a single promise regarding the GST has been fulfilled,” they said.
The protesting JKCC members said that the government is mulling to infringe the special status of JK for which the Kashmiris have sacrificed everything including lives and property.

They said that after implementing GST here, the government is trying to erode the Article 35-A, which is bound to infringe the special status of JK.
“We won’t allow the government to implement the anti-people and anti-Kashmir laws here. We will continue to take streets against them till the demands won’t meet,” they said, adding that the government must take steps which would accommodate the aspirations of people here.
They appealed the incumbent regime to rollback the GST law immediate in the state so that the dilution of the special status won’t take place.
Meanwhile, the protesting JKCC members later dispersed peacefully.
