KJA protests against ‘harassment’ of scribe

Demands action against policemen

Srinagar, Aug 07: Kupwara Journalists Association (KJA) on Monday staged protest against the ‘harassment and misbehaviour’ of policemen in Wattergam, Rafiabad, with a senior journalist Javaid Zargar.
KJA assembled at SSP office Handwara and staged protest there against the ‘harassment’ of scribe.
Pertinently, according to KJA, Zargar was on way to Handwara when his car was stopped by some policemen in Wattergam.
“The policemen misbehaved and harassed Javiad Zargar when he was travelling home and his car was stopped,” KJA General Secretary, Raja Akbar had said.
The KJA members also condemned the police action.
During the protest today, KJA demanded immediate action against the policemen who according to them harassed and misbehaved with the scribe.
Meanwhile, SDPO Handwara Shabir Ahmad Khan assured the scribes that they will take up the matter with Sopore police. “We will take up this matter with the Sopore Police,” he said, according to KNS correspondent. (KNS)
