Srinagar, August 11: Government forces today launched a cordon and search operation at Noorpora village of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district after suspecting presence of at least three militants including Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind chief Zakir Musa.

According to a police official, the forces including 42RR, 130 CRPF and SOG Awantipora laid siege to Noorpora- the native village of Musa – and launched searches. He said during search operation, the locals pelted stone on forces men and they were dealt with teargas shelling. Despite clashes, the search operation continued in the area.

The police said that the cordon shall remain in place at Noorpora as they suspect presence of militants. So far, the police said, no contact has been established with the militants and the searches are on. Earlier, there were reports about Zakir Musa giving slip to forces but no confirmation was given by any official.

Meanwhile separate cordon and searches operations were also launched in Pehlipora Shopian, Nawa Kadal and Zaldagar areas of downtown Srinagar today. However no one as arrested during these operations.(GNS)
