Revenue officials usurp rent of land owner obtained from Army

Tangdhar, Aug 24: An elderly man from far flung Karnah tehsil of frontier district Kupwara Thursday alleged that the rent army pays for his ancestral is being usurped by Revenue officials.
“I have my ancestral land comprising over a dozens of kanals at Karnah that has been occupied by 104 Brigade of Army. Army has been paying rent on monthly basis but that is being taken away by Revenue officials who are hand in glove with one another,” a septuagenarian from Karnah Muhammad Yasin Kaldal who appeared in Press Enclave Srinagar along with land and rental documents told news agency CNS.
Kaldal said that the information collected by him under RTI clearly reveals that no rental was paid by the officials to him though these officials received the same from Army brigade.
“Army officer Colonel Manoj B. Nair sought rental details from the administration after I filed a complaint before him. SDM Tangdhar also asked Tehsildar and other officials to probe the matter but nothing changed on ground,” he said and appealed army brass and Divisional Commissioner Kashmir to look into the matter.
