Sopore police organizes sports fest

Srinagar, August 21: Deputy Inspector General of Police NKR Shri Nitish Kumar who was the chief guest of Sopore Sports Festival organized by Sopore police under civic action programme at Khushal Stadium, was present during the inaugural ceremony of the fest, today.
Two matches of Volleyball and Cricket were played on the first day of the sports festival. The volleyball match was played between Govt. Boys HSS Sopore and Boys HSS Rohama which was won by Boys HSS Sopore. The cricket match was played between Shah Rasool Memorial Welkin Educational Trust Sopore & Muslim Educational Trust HSS Sopore which was won by MeT Sopore.
Two female teams also participated in the inaugural ceremony of Sopore sports festival and to encourage more female teams they have been given sports uniform on spot by the Chief Guest. All the participating teams were given refreshment and the winning teams were given mementoes.
The Chief Guest DIG NKR Shri Nitish Kumar while highlighting the importance of this sports festival said that the sole aim of organizing such sports activities is to stabilize the Police Public bond and to provide opportunities for budding sports activities to excel in their respective sports fields. He also said that this sports festival can be a good platform to show cast the talent of both young boys and girls which will help them to participate in next higher level of competitions.
SSP Sopore Shri Harmeet Singh during the ceremony said that this sports festival shall continue for more than a week’s time and various games including Volley Ball, Foot Ball, Cricket, Kabaddi, Karate, Javelin throw, 200 meter race and T-20 cricket for ladies will be played.
Among others who were present on the occasion includes Comdr. 5 Sector RR, ADC Sopore, Commanding Officers of 22-RR, 52-RR, 32-RR & 179 Bn. CRPF, 177 Bn. CRPF, 92 Bn. CRPF, SDPO Sopore, SDPO Rafiabad, DySP’s of Sopore, Rafiabad, Wadoora and civil officers.
