Anantnag, Aug 11: The Ummat e Islami today demanded the immediate release of its incarcerated Chairman, Mirwaiz Qazi Ahmed Yasir who has been languishing in the jail since 8 July. Mirwaiz was arrested on the way to Tral on the occasion of anniversary of Burhan wani, the popular slain commander. Nisar Nayeemi, a senior member of Ummat e Islami said it looks like that the state is fearful of Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir and is trying to generate pressure tactics to silence him, that is why his house was raided and his brother was detained. Nayeemi said that such tactics can only strengthen the resolve of Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir. In past too, his relatives, brothers, friends, aides, religious associates have been arrested and booked under frivolous charges only to contain Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir, in which they have failed to succeed as of yet, the recent raid at the house of Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir is a testimony to that. He demanded the immediate release of Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir, Sarjan Barkati, Sajad Hashmi, arrested youth, pro freedom leaders and others.
Meanwhile the spokesman of Ummat e Islami while quoting a message of Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir condemned the brutal measures and inhumane policies being carried out against the people of Southern Kashmir in particular. He said the Southern Kashmir districts especially Kulgam are being harassed, the troopers enter the houses, thrash civilians, and ransack the property in Kulgam areas which is no sign of bravery. “The situation has turned so fearful that people fear leaving their homes after 8pm” Mirwaiz Yasir said. Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir said such tactics will win India no war, it will deteriorate the already brewed up situation further. He said he has been receiving complaints from many villages in Shopian, Kulgam and Pulwama areas where civilians including women have been thrashed severely. Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir said such brutal policies must stop or else people will all come out on the roads.
Mirwaiz said the GST bill and the alterations to 35a is a giving of the local parties who right from the beginning have made the law a mere name and in real lands were sold, donated to Indian corporates. He said the initial duty is upon the pro establishment parties to safeguard the special status of Jammu Kashmir. Indian TV Channels can do no harm if Kashmiri people stand united against the plans to alter the demography of Kashmir, he said. He said the people of Kashmir are ethnically, socially, traditionally, culturally and politically alien to the Indian State, so they will never accept the dictates from Nagpur and Cow vigilants. Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir thanked Pakistan for standing besides Kashmir in all times.
The party paid tributes to Sheikh Azeez, Yawar Nisar, the rebel from Islamabad, Pulwama martyrs and demanded the release of all political prisoners.
