Srinagar, Aug 19: District and Session Judge Kulgam has today rejected the bail application of Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir chief spokesperson Advocate Zahid Ali and another associate Farooq Ahmad Sheikh, Amir Tehsil Kulgam despite the fact that they have been under constant police custody for 15 days.
They were arrested by Kulgam police after attending a funeral function at Gopalpora Kulgam and an FIR under section 153 RPC and 13 Unlawful Activities (Preventive) act was lodged against them in police station Damhal Hanjipora under the instructions of concerned SSP Sridhar Patil by leveling false and frivolous allegations on 4th August, 2017.
The District and Sessions Judge Kishore Kumar Bhagat rejected the bail application after a gap of 14 days on the reason not warranted by the law relating to the bails. This is the first such application which has been rejected by any judge in the valley under section 13 Unlawful Activities (Preventive) Act.
Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir denies the false and baseless allegations leveled against its functionaries and demands a free and impartial probe into this case based on the wrong and biased allegations leveled by the police. (KNS)
