​PIB Srinagar organizes 8th Rural Media Workshop/Vartalap at Leh

Srinagar, Sep 27: Press Information Bureau, Srinagar organized a one day Rural Media Workshop/Vartalap Wednesday at DC Office Conference Hall Leh aiming at sensitization of local media about various Centrally Sponsored Schemes.

 

The program was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Leh, Avny Lavasa, presided by former IIS officer and senior writer Shri Ab Gani Sheiekh and included 40 eminent media persons, local officials and other district administration officers.
Smt Bharti Vaid ADG (M&C), Press Information Bureau Srinagar welcomed the guests and afterwards highlighted the role of media. Speaking on the occasion she said that active participation of media to highlight the different government sponsored schemes is important to spread awareness among the rural people so that they can get benefitted properly.
She maintained that Rural Media awareness is important at grass root level and reiterated that media should not entirely focus on negative issues. “Constructive criticism is welcome, but at the same time the positive aspects should not be ignored,” She said.
 Deputy Director, PIB Srinagar Shri Ghulam Abbass said that journalism should act as a bridge between people and government. He said that media has a vital role to highlight different projects and schemes of the government so that the benefits reach to the deserving people.
Shri Morup Stanzin, President Press Club of Leh highlighted the problem of internet connectivity in Leh which hinders the dissemination of information to local people effectively.
ZEO Leh, Shri Paldan Tundup, BMO Leh, Dr. Mohd Iqbal, News Editor AIR Leh, Shri Kush Nahar, DIO NIC Leh, and Volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra also participated in the event highlighting different schemes of the government and the role of media for effective outreach.

Media persons hailed the efforts of PIB for organizing the program to highlight the benefits of Centrally Sponsored Schemes for rural people and the role played by the local media for awareness among the masses.
They expressed their views of organizing more workshops like this in future to get more information about different government related schemes.
The program concluded with the vote of thanks by ADG PIB Srinagar Smt Bharti Vaid.
