Srinagar, Sep 18: Demanding regularization of their jobs, monthly pension and releasing of pending salaries, Anganwari workers of Kashmir Monday staged protest demonstration against the state and central government here.
They took to roads and blocked vehicular movement near Exchange Road here in Srinagar.
“We are being asked to leave the job. We were waiting for our regularization but instead the authorities are now telling us that they can’t regularize us. It is injustice with us,” they said.
They threatened to intensify protests in case their demands are not met.

Police tried to disperse them when they clashed with the women police. Some of the Anganwari workers were detained for some time.
Later in the evening, they assembled at Press Enclave here and alleged that instead of regularizing them, the government has been mulling to handover Anganwari projects to private parties. (CNS)
