Srinagar, September 18: A video in which a slain youth hailing from Bijbehera area of Anantnag district ‘confesses’ his role in spying upon militants has gone viral over social media sites.

Identifying himself as Ishtiaq Ahmad Wagay of Jablipora Bijbhera, the youth in the video — who is dressed in blue Pathani suit — admits to spying upon militants before an insurgent whose face has not been shown in the video but only his voice is audible. The youth during questioning by the insurgent names several ‘informers’ and claims he was compelled by them to spy or else they will shot him.

In the video, Ishtiaq on being asked whom he spied names several militants including Abu Talha and Abu Turab and confesses that he was promised cash but wasn’t given anything. “It yielded nothing. It was a mistake and I was compelled for doing this,” Ishtiaq rues.

Pertinently, the youth’s bullet riddled body was found at Shopian in the first week of August in same blue Pathani suit. Meanwhile, Director General of Police Dr SP Vaid said that police are investigating the matter and ascertaining how much truth the video carries. (GNS)
