Srinagar, 24 September:-Large sections of people including traders, transporters, street vendors of Batmaloo Srinagar have been rendered jobless due to shifting of the existing bus stand, thus their earnings have been adversely affected. Instead of listening to their genuine grievances, the adminstration seems to be least concerned to evolve mechanism so that their smooth and daily earnings are ensured. The affected families have been on dharna for more than 20 days but ironically none from the administration bothered to visiit them to listen their grievances. As valley is already undergoing serious economic crisis, it is, as such, imperative that the government need to ensure that the earnings of people including traders, transporters, vendors, labourers engaged in construction works should not be adversely affected, thus adding to already huge number of jobless people. If the stalemate is allowed to continue, the commuters and poor people from rural areas who frequently have to visit hospitals, courts, educational institutions, civil secretariat and other offices are likely to suffer on this account.
The administration should take the issue seriously and start immediate negotiations with the representatives of traders and transporters to evolve a mechanism so that their smooth earnings are not affected, their families are not allowed to suffer badly and common people don’t have to face inconveniences due to stubborn attitude of the adminstriation.
