Srinagar, September 7:Eight days after disappearance of a youth, Army’s Chinar Corps Commander Lt General JS Sandhu today visited Lolab area of Kupwara district and spoke to officials about the matter.

One youth namely Manzoor Ahmad of Kakarpati village of Devar Lolab was detained by army along with another identified as Nasrullah Khan eight days ago last month. While Nasrullah was released later, the whereabouts of Manzoor are still unknown.

As locals blame army for disappearance of Manzoor, the Corps Commander Lt Gen Sandhu visited Devar Lolab area and personally interacted with the officials, defence spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia told news agency GNS.

“A joint inquiry team comprising senior Police and Army officers is investigating the case. Suitable action will be taken based on the outcome of this inquiry,” he said. Pertinently, both police and army have launched separate probes into the disappearance of Manzoor. (GNS)
