Srinagar, September 5: Amid surge in militant attacks in southern districts, Government forces today launched cordon and search operations in several villages of Shopian district for several hours which however concluded peacefully.
Reports reaching GNS said that the CASOs were launched in Nagbal, Urpara, Dachoo, Homehuna, Hushunpora and Nolai Poshwari villages of the Shopian. Reports said that army and special operation group of police cordoned off these villages and launched searches after receiving inputs about presence of militants.
After conducting searches for several hours, however, no militant was found nor was any suspect detained, the reports added. The cordon and search operations were later called off and there was no report any law and order problem. Pertinently, two grenade attacks in Qazigund and Mattan areas of South Kashmir yesterday left five CRPF men injured. (GNS)
