Will take up the matter with higher ups: Executive Engineer SD DH Pora
Srinagar, Sep 25: A village in Kulgam district has been reeling under darkness from decades as the Power Development Department (PDD) has failed to provide it electricity even as it has erected poles and wires under Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) scheme in the year 2009.
Soipathri village in Noorabad assembly segment represented by PDP MLA Abdul Majeed Paddar continues to reel under darkness in the modern day world as the department has failed to provide electricity to the village.
According to KNS correspondent, the villagers said that under RGGVY scheme the NC-Congress government erected electric poles and wires in the village in 2009, but the department failed to completely implement the project, leaving 150 families under darkness.
Sources informed KNS that the government under RGGVY scheme spent lakhs of rupees over erecting poles and wires to the village but the mission to provide electricity to them was left midway.
“The authorities are ignoring us at all fronts,” the locals lamented, adding that they approached to their legislator and the PDD authorities several times but to no avail.
“We appeal to the MLA and PPD higher ups to look into the matter and redress their genuine grievances at earliest,” they demanded.
Executive Engineer of Sub Division DH Pora, Nisar Hussain told KNS the centrally sponsored scheme was left midway by the government, which resulted in the stoppage of work.
“I will take up this matter with the higher ups and the department will start the work to provide electricity to the village in the within 20 days,” he said. (KNS)
