Srinagar, September 22: The forests of Awora area in border Kupwara district of North Kashmir are witnessing fire since four consecutive days, locals told GNS Friday.
According to locals, the fire has destroyed trees spread on a vast area but so far nothing has been done by the administration to control it. They said that the fire tenders have not been rushed to the jungle to control the fire and administration is acting like mute spectators.
“The green gold is turning into ashes but it seems the administration is not even aware of the fire that has engulfed Awora woods since Tuesday. We appeal government to immediately rush fire tenders to the area so that the blaze is controlled and prevented from spreading further,” they said. (GNS)
