Srinagar, Sep 26: Authorities on Tuesday have decided to snap with immediate effect internet and voice service in Baramalla and Sopore in wake of the killing of Kashmir’s longest surviving militant Qayoom Najjar near LoC in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Official sources said that a police has sent a communication to the cellular companies to snap both internet and voice service with immediate effect within the jurisdictional area of police districts of Sopore and Baramulla.
Najar, ‘most wanted’ commander, was killed early Monday morning while infiltrating into Kashmir Valley from Lachipora Uri.
Qayoom until 2015 was affiliated with Hizbul Mujahideeen but he broke away from the outfit and formed his own Lashkar-e-Islam which carried out series of attacks on mobile towers and killed several persons for their alleged links with government forces. (GNS)
