Srinagar, September 04: Two HM militants including Divisional Commander of HM North Kashmir were killed in an encounter with police and security forces in Sopore.
Acting on a specific information, Sopore police along with 22 RR and 179 Bn, 177 Bn, 92Bn CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Check-e-Brath area of Sopore. During searches, hiding terrorists fired upon joint search party, ensuing an encounter.
Two militants were killed in the encounter who were later identified as Pervaiz Ahmad Wani resident of Galoora Handwara, Divisional Commander of HM and Naeem Ahmad Najar son of Ghulam Hassan Najar resident of Shelpora Brad, Sopore.
Two AK rifles, three AK magazines, 90 AK rounds, One INSAS rifle, one INSAS Magazine, 13 INSAS rounds and other ammunition was recovered from the encounter site.
These militants were involved in many anti national and anti social activities. Pervaiz Ahmad was involved in the serial blast on mobile towers in 2015. He was involved in killing of two police personnel in Handwara market in 2013. He was also involved in attack on Police Post Langate in 2016 and case FIR number 47/2008 under section 307 RPC under section 7/27 IA Act, 18 UL Act of Police Station Handwara.
