Srinagar, Sep 27: Underlining that preservation of environmental and cultural heritage is imperative for sustaining tourism, Vice Chairman JKTDC Rafi Ahmad Mir in a statement said that with marking of the World Tourism Day, JKTDC aims to raise awareness on the importance of tourism and preservation of our environmental and cultural components in order to foster and sustain the sector’s future development.
This year’s theme ‘Sustainable Tourism – A Tool for Development’ encourages us to formulate a tourism policy where we nourish our roots and showcase our rich culture and traditional values’. The Chief Minister is making tremendous efforts to enhance tourism offering vis-a-vis the development of tourism activities and infrastructure. At the same time, government is keen on preserving our heritage and environmental, cultural and historic resources. We are joining efforts with the private sector to achieve our goals, and would like to express our gratitude and appreciation for all those working in the tourism sector ‘’ he added.
Mir said that JKTDC will make all its properties ‘green’ with smart lighting and solid waste management system. (KNS)
