Says by detaining Hurriyat leaders govt has accepted its defeat.
Kupwara, 09 September: Appealing people to donate whatsoever they can to various charitable organizations, who are helping the victims of violence, AIPsupremo and MLA Langate Engineer Rasheed has said that it is need of the hour to act like responsible and mature society. Addressing a function organized by J&K Yateem Foundation in collaboration with few other Non-Governmental Organizations (N.G.Os) at Kupwara today Er Rasheed Said, “We cannot run away from our responsibilities and rather seeing towards others we need to have a collective approach and understand that those who have suffered because of violence since 1989 had no personal agenda and the sufferings on their families including small kids were thrusted upon them because of the political dispute. We all need to ensure that children of martyrs do get best possible education, but it is not possible through hollow slogans unless we all do not donate as much as we can to the trustworthy charitable organizations. We must not look like beggars and also should minimize our dependence on government and its related departments.” Er Rasheed added that rather planning to give one time bigger donations each of us must contribute whatsoever possible and in whatsoever form either on daily, weekly, or monthly basis.
He appealed charitable organizations to ensure that while helping needies they must ensure that their self-respect is not hurt and they should not draw any impressions that they are being given some undue favour or someone is feeling pity on them. Speaking on the side-lines of the function Er Rasheed said that state government stands widely exposed by detaining Hurriyat leaders who were supposed to visit New Delhi.
Er Rasheed said, “Yesterday the state police chief claimed that joint resistance leadership is free to go anywhere but today the same police chief put Hurriyat leaders under detention, thus proving yet again that government is confused, dishonest and leaves no stone unturned to hide its suppression. The excuse given that Hurriyat leaders would have taken out a rally before heading for New Delhi has proved that Hurriyat is enjoying huge mass support and government has accepted its defeat. If New Delhi used to claim that Hurriyat is a Pak funded organization and the claims that funding has stopped after NIA raids then government should not have detained Hurriyat leaders if their credibility and popular support was eroded.”
