Woman wounded in cross border firing

Jammu, Sep 27: A woman was injured after Pakistani troops attacked Indian forwards posts along the Line of Control in Poonch and Rajouri districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

Identifying the injured woman as Shamim Akhtar of Dharati village, sources said that mortar shells from across the LoC suddenly started falling in Balakote area of Mendhar around 8 am. It soon spread to Shahpur area of Poonch and then in Manjakote sector of adjoining Rajouri district.

Army officials said that Pakistani troopers used long range shells.

“The troopers from our side retaliated effectively,” said an Indian official. (CNS)
