SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 09: Meeting their long pending demand, the University of Kashmir has decided to rationalize the academic schedule of the students of Ladakh region.
“A notification to this effect has been issued and even the necessary amendments in the University statutes have been made,” a meeting convened by the Chief Minister today was informed. The meeting was in follow up to the demands put before the Chief Minister during her last two visits to Ladakh region.
Minister for Education, Syed Altaf Bukhari; Chief Secretary, B. B. Vyas; Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Rohit Kansal; Principal Secretary, Higher Education, Dr. Asgar Samoon; Vice Chancellor, Kashmir University, Prof. Khursheed Iqbal Andrabi and other officers were present in the meeting.
It may be recalled that during her last two visits to the region, a number of students had met the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti at Leh and Kargil and demanded rationalization of their academic schedule by the Kashmir University in view of the harsh climatic condition, extended winters and the area being far off from the headquarters of Kashmir University at Srinagar.
The Chief Minister had assured them to look into the demand and take appropriate measures.
