Federation stages demo, demands transfer of SHO

Srinagar, Oct 07: Following the call given by the Traders Federation Anantnag, a complete shutdown was Saturday observed in the district to protest against what they termed as an alleged highhandedness of the Police.
The United Traders Association Anantnag had appealed people to observe complete shutdown today to protest against the Police for arresting the shopkeepers during the clashes on Friday.
All shops including the emergency shops and the business establishments remained closed in the district while the vehicular movement was also thin on the roads.

The Traders Federation members also staged a sit-in today outside the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office against the Police and demanded an immediate transfer of the concerned Station House Officer (SHO).
The Traders alleged that some shopkeepers were mercilessly beaten by Police during the clashes that erupted in the town, after Post Friday prayers, yesterday.
They said that the shutdown will continue until the SHO Anantnag will be transferred.
The leaders of trade associations also alleged that administration has failed in safeguarding the rights of shopkeepers. (KNS)
