Srinagar, Oct 09: Police on Monday used tear smoke shells to disperse the women protests in Batamaloo area of Srinagar city against yesterday’s braid chopping incident.
Witnesses said that said that scores of women protesters from the interiors of Batamaloo including Danderkha and its adjacent areas tried to march towards Batamaloo bus stand to mark a protest against the growing braid chopping incidents in Kashmir.
The women protesters were chanting slogans against the braid chopping incidents and in favour of ‘Aazadi’.
The women protesters were demanding an immediate edn to the mysterious braid chopping incidents.
However, police and other forces deployed in the area resorted to tear smoke shells to disperse the women protesters.

Reports said that the shelling led to a chaos among the protesters. A number of women in a bid to escape the shelling fell on roads and suffered minor injuries.
Notably, on Sunday a braid chopping incident was reported from the area.
As the news about the incident spread in the area, locals hit the streets to protest the “inaction of police” to nab the culprits. (KNS)
