Cabinet meeting tomorrow

Srinagar, Oct 22: As the civil Secretariat is moving to winter capital Jammu on November 6, the PDP-BJP government is holding its last cabinet meeting in Srinagar on Monday with some departmental matters and filling of the vacancies of the heads of some departments on the agenda.

A senior cabinet minister of the government told KNS that the meeting will be held in the Civil Secretariat in the afternoon on Monday at 5.

“It will be a routine cabinet meeting where some departmental matters are to be discussed. No major transfers will take place, but few officials might be transferred and the vacant positions of commissioner secretary posts are likely to be filled,” the minister said.

The minister said that the cabinet meeting will be the last one in the Kashmir valley as the Darbar will move to Jammu.

The minister said that the commissioner secretary posts of Revenue, Information, Floriculture and Gardens and Tourism will be filled as these departments are headless after the retirement of their heads.

These posts fell vacant following the superannuation of commissioner secretary Information and Tourism department, Muhammad Hussain Malik on September 30 and retirement of Muhammad Ashraf Mir on October 11 as commissioner secretary of Revenue. Mir was to retire on October 11 and he was appointed as State Information Commissioner in the State Information Commission the next day.

The Civil Secretariat, seat of the Jammu and Kashmir government, will close here on October 27 and reopen in the winter capital of Jammu on November 06 as part of the biannual ‘Darbar Move’, a practice started by then Maharaja Gulab Singh in 1872. (KNS)
