NC assails PDP-BJP for pushing J&K youth to wall
Batote, Oct 15: Underscoring the important role of youth in the fast changing political scenario of Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference leaders on Sunday hoped young people to be catalyst of change in highly surcharged atmosphere of the state created by divisive and self-centric policies of the PDP-BJP coalition.
“This can be possible only when youth come forward in a big way and help in changing the political discourse by forging unity and strengthening the bonds of amity”, Youth National Conference Provincial President Ajaz Jan said while addressing a day-long convention at Batote.
District President National Conference Ramban Sajjad Shaheen presided over the convention.
Jan said the challenges confronted to the State were manifold, especially in the wake of policies being adopted by the coalition government, and these can be met by maintaining unity and preserving communal amity.
The YNC Provincial President lambasted the PDP-BJP for pushing youth to the wall and referred to various issues confronted to educated unemployed besides skilled and unskilled workforce due to growing unemployment.
Speaking on the occasion, Sajjad Shaheen hoped the youth to play their designated role in steering out the state from the morass and mess created by the PDP-BJP Government.
Shaheen said National Conference has all along provided a huge space to youth, which is why it is still known as a youth movement that has withstood vicissitudes of history and test of times.
“Now that the State is at the cross roads of history with self seekers and anti-people elements presiding over its destiny, the youth have to change the discourse”, Sajjad Shaheen said.
Former MLA Dr Chaman Lal, while addressing the convention, hoped that the youngsters can brave all the challenges confronted to the state with all the energy at their command and spirit of serving the people.
Dr Chaman Lal described youth as trend setters, adding that they can help in cleansing degenerated political atmosphere by bringing much needed change. He said that National Conference has always performed its role in channelizing the energies of youth in proper direction.
District Secretary Arif Mir, President YNC Ramban Farooq Ahmed Gazi, Mohd Babar Malik, Mohd Khalil Sohil, Murtaza Ali besides functionaries of District, Block and Halqa committees of youth wing of the party also addressed the convention.
On the occasion, Ajaz Jan announced the newly appointed Block Presidents and Secretaries of Ramban constituency. They were profusely garlanded by the Provincial Vice President Dr Chaman Lal, District President Ramban Sajjad Shaheen and District President YNC Ramban Farooq Gazi. (KNS)
